There’s not much I can say about Room 8 without spoiling it, so I’ll just let you watch.
Room 8 was made as part of the Bombay Sapphire Imagination Series competition. In 2012 Bombay Sapphire the competition, in which they asked the writer Geoffrey Fletcher to write a short script stripped of any stage direction, and for people to submit a film entry. The five winners were produced and shown at Tribeca Film Festival 2013.
Room 8 won the BAFTA for British Short Film in 2014, and you can see why. It’s simple but elegant, and a good example of a well executed, fully formed idea. It’s also rather disturbing and stays with you after you see it.
